PROGRAMMER - TECHNICAL SUPPORT
The Senior Programmer for Technical Support ensures that programmers, scripters, and technical designers follow the defined project and modding technical directions. Working directly with developers, this role maintains a consistent technical framework and provides support through the development of features, systems, and frameworks. They assist with problem-solving and conduct research into complex technical challenges — all in service of the game's technical vision and modding ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
Enforce technical direction: Ensure programmers, scripters, and technical designers follow the established project and modding technical framework.
Support developers directly: Work hands-on with the team to resolve blockers and mentor members on best practices.
Build systems and tooling: Design and implement reusable systems, frameworks, and internal tools that strengthen the project's technical foundation.
Research complex problems: Investigate technical challenges through R&D, prototyping, and documentation to inform team decisions.
Champion moddability: Review designs during the technical design phase to ensure systems are built with modding support in mind.
Safeguard architectural consistency: Maintain a unified technical framework across teams and address deviations early.
Conduct code and technical reviews: Uphold quality and standards, flag risks, and provide constructive feedback that supports developer growth.
Contribute to technical decisions: Participate in technical meetings, share insights, and help shape technical directives.
Collaborate cross-functionally: Coordinate with Technical Support colleagues and the Modding Department to align on shared goals.
Promote best practices: Foster a culture of clean code, thoughtful design, and long-term moddability across the team.
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of systems architecture and experience designing scalable, maintainable frameworks
Several years of professional programming experience, ideally in game development
Proficiency in C++
Proven experience developing reusable systems, internal tools, and technical frameworks
Solid understanding of software design principles, design patterns, and clean code practices
Experience conducting code reviews and providing constructive technical feedback
Ability to research, prototype, and document solutions to complex technical challenges
Experience mentoring developers and promoting best practices across teams
Strong communication and collaboration skills across disciplines
Fluency in English (spoken and written)
Nice to have:
Experience with proprietary or in-house game engines (e.g., Enfusion, Unreal)
Familiarity with modding ecosystems and designing systems with moddability in mind
Previous experience in a Technical Lead or Senior Technical Support role
Experience shipping AAA or large-scale multiplayer titles
